Vicis Medical Center was founded by a daughter for her mother - a doctor whose life's work and greatest joy is to serve, heal, and care for her community. Our founder, Yadenis Jimenez, opened this practice so her mother could do what she was born to do: practice medicine with integrity, clinical independence, and compassion. Dr. Milagros Y. Calvo was a Medical Doctor in Cuba, specializing in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine. She served her community for years before coming to the United States, where she became a Family Nurse Practitioner and Autonomous Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. Fluent in Spanish and English, she now practices medicine the way it was always meant to be practiced. "For years, I couldn't do what I loved most - care for patients. I watched from the sidelines while others practiced medicine, and it broke my heart. When my daughter built Vicis, she gave me the greatest gift: the ability and freedom to see patients and make a meaningful contribution to their health. Here, I have time to listen. I can make decisions based on what's right for each patient. I can explain things clearly in Spanish or English. I can build real relationships with patients and see them thrive over time.
